- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering for all posts. Irrigation JE (Mech): a diploma in mechanical engineering from an institution or university established by law, or from BTE UP, or an AICTE national certificate in mechanical engineering. PWD JE (Mech): High School plus a 3-year diploma in mechanical engineering from BTE UP or equivalent. ADPRO (Technical): diploma in mechanical engineering from a recognised institution. Ground Water Technical Assistant (Mech): 3-year diploma in mechanical engineering from BTE UP or a Government-declared equivalent. Machine Instructor: Intermediate (UP Board or equivalent) plus a 3-year diploma in the mechanical maintenance trade. UPSRTC Assistant Storekeeper: diploma in Automobile/Mechanical Engineering from a recognised polytechnic. UPSRTC Mechanic: 3-year diploma in Automobile or Mechanical (Automobile) Engineering from a recognised polytechnic; a heavy-vehicle driving licence is preferred. Preference (most posts): 2 years' Territorial Army service or NCC 'B' certificate.

- ₹25 online processing fee (all categories); mains exam fee payable separately by shortlisted candidates
- Age limit
- Reckoned on 1 July 2026. 18–40 years: JE (Mechanical) in Irrigation and PWD, Machine Instructor, UPSRTC Mechanic and Assistant Storekeeper. 21–40 years: ADPRO (Technical) and Technical Assistant (Mechanical). Upper age limit relaxed for SC/ST and other categories notified by the UP Government; existing UPSRTC employees get 5 extra years for UPSRTC posts.
