- Diploma in Electrical Engineering for all posts. PWD and the seven university JE posts: High School plus a 3-year diploma in electrical engineering from BTE UP or equivalent. Electrical Safety Directorate JE: diploma in electrical engineering from a Government-recognised university or institution, plus the ability to read and write Hindi in Devanagari. Rajkiya Nirman Nigam JE: diploma in electrical engineering. UP State Construction & Infrastructure Development Corporation JE: 3-year diploma in electrical engineering or equivalent. Ground Water Technical Assistant (Electrical): 3-year diploma in electrical engineering from BTE UP or a Government-declared equivalent. Research Assistant (Kanpur): diploma in electrical engineering plus 2 years' teaching experience. UPSRTC Electrician: diploma in electrical with an electrical supervisor licence. Preference (most posts): 2 years' Territorial Army service or NCC 'B' certificate.

- Age limit
- 18–40 years on 1 July 2026 for most posts (PWD and university JE posts, Rajkiya Nirman Nigam JE, UPSRTC Electrician). 21–40 years on 1 July 2026 for Technical Assistant (Electrical), Research Assistant and UP State Construction & Infrastructure Development Corporation JE. Electrical Safety Directorate JE: 18–40 years reckoned on 1 January 2027, with the upper limit 5 years higher for SC/ST and dependants of freedom fighters. Elsewhere the upper age limit is relaxed for SC/ST and other categories notified by the UP Government; existing employees of UPSRTC and Rajkiya Nirman Nigam get 5 extra years for posts in their own corporation.
